Myrna Evelyn Graft Scott

A one hundred year legacy. One hundred years we were blessed to have a true angel walking among us. Born in Topeka, Kansas on November 29, 1912, Myrna Evelyn Graft Scott started her angelic mission on earth. At the age of 12, her mother and father, the late Harry Miller and Maude Emma Graft, moved her and her brother, the late Calvin Graft, to California due to health issues. Eighty eight years later, after defying those doctors, she peacefully passed away at her home and flew up to Heaven to be with her husband and daughter on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Myrna graduated from Sacramento High School in 1930, where she was a member of the KT Club. She graduated from Sacramento Junior College where she met and later married the love of her life, the late Woodrow "Woody" Scott, and they shared 64 wonderful years together. The addition of their daughter, the late Sue Ann Scott Ingram, and their son, Thomas Scott, completed their family. Myrna loved to spend the summers at her cabin in South Lake Tahoe, and thoroughly enjoyed the many friends she made at the lake. She loved playing the Nickel Progressive Poker machines at the casinos, knitting, reading, and traveling. She was a 60 year member of the Temple Chapter of Eastern Star, as well as a charter member of the Saraband Dance Club and Allied Arts. Her pride and joy was her family; she was their individual cheerleader. She never spoke a cruel word, and was a positive inspiration to all who came to know and love her. She will be greatly missed by her son Thomas Scott and daughter-in-law Marilyn Scott, and her grandchildren: Carlton and Lisa Scott, Brent Scott, Corey and Sandy Grove, Tim and Tonya Ingram, Erica Scott Canaan, Thomas and Susan Ingram, Todd and Jennifer Ingram, and Tamilyn Ingram. She is also survived by her son-in-law Jerry Ingram and 17 great-grandchildren. The family greatly appreciates the comfort and support from her Island Angel caregivers: Francis, Sonni, Wini and Curl. Family and friends were invited to attend the celebration of her life at W.F. Gormley & Sons Funeral Chapel, 2015 Capitol Avenue at 11:00 a.m. which was held on Thursday, October 17th. Memorials may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association of Northern California, or to the charity of choice. "An angel who was among us, our guardian protector for eternity."
