David "Sam" Samia passed away peacefully on October 16, 2013 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Youko, daughter Barbara (Joe) Genshlea of Sacramento, daughter Roz Samia of Los Angeles, brother George Samia of Orange, California, and sister Kay Burger of Garden Grove, California, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dave spent 22 years in the Air Force. He met and married his wife while stationed at Tachikawa Air Force Base in Tokyo. Their marriage and life was a testament to their love as neither spoke the other's language and both had to adjust to the other's culture. After retirement from the Air Force, Dave worked for and eventually retired once again from the Sacramento Army Depot. He was known far and wide as a jokester and honed his skill so well, most could not tell whether or not her was joking until he decided to let you in on it. While the joke was on, you could get so mad at him, but you just couldn't stay mad. Most of the time you got mad at yourself for having fallen for it yet again. We will miss the twinkle in his eye and the sly smile. Most of all we will miss him. Private services were held. He will be deeply missed.
