Rosalie Meadows Oct. 19, 1941 - Nov. 19, 2013 Rosalie Meadows was called home to Heaven Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 after complications with breast cancer at the age of 72. The oldest of 11 siblings, she was born Oct. 19, 1941 in West Virginia where she spent many school years. From sixth to 10th grade Roaslie attended William Penn School in Newcastle, Del., and graduated from high school in Elkton, Md., in 1959. Rosalie moved to Woodland the same year after marrying Bill Payne, where she lived for nearly 30 years and raised two daughters, Carol and Allison. Rosalie was a homemaker and active in her daughters' school, where she was president of Holy Rosary's Mothers' Club, involved in Omega Nu and Holy Rosary Church. Rosalie moved to Sacramento in the late 1980s and was a resident of Gold River. She was a member of Lake Side Church in Folsom. When not spending time with family, entertaining or cooking fabulous meals, Rosalie loved traveling. She went on trips all over the world from Europe to the Holy Land to the Orient. Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents Lonnie and Nellie Meadows and infant brother Billy Ray Meadows. She is survived by her daughters Carol Hallissy and Allison Smith; granddaughter Elizabeth Kalfsbeek; grandsons Alec and Austin Smith, William and Andrew Hallissy; brothers Harold, Thomas and Ernest Meadows; sisters Donna Yedinak, Mary Clark, Debbie Giffing, Maria Meadows, Judy Rohl and Cindy Holle; numerous nieces and nephews and best friend Helen Swanston. A viewing is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 25 at Gormley & Sons, 2015 Capital Ave., Sacramento. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26 at St. Mel Catholic Church, 4745 Pennsylvania Ave., in Fair Oaks. Burial will follow at Old Fair Oaks Cemetery, 7780 Olive St., in Fair Oaks. A reception to celebrate Rosalie's life will follow. Rosalie prefers that any money that would have been spent on flowers instead be donated to Loaves and Fishes (sacramentoloavesandfishes.net) or the Wounded Warrior Program in her name.
