Mary Ellen was born on March 25, 1917 in Sacramento to Patrick & Della Mooney. She passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her family on December 14, 2013. She is survived by her brother Jack Mooney and sister Patricia Harrison and her beloved children and their loved ones, Bill and Francine, Maureen and John and daughter-in-law Krista. She was the cherished grandmother of Allison and Ryan and great grandchildren Dominic & Mia. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jack, their oldest son Jim, as well as her younger sisters Dorothy & Theresa. Mary Ellen lived in Sacramento for 96 years. After graduating from Sacramento High School she went to work for Shell Oil Co. While raising their 3 children she also assisted Jack in running Masters Florist, the Pine Ridge Motel and Navlet's Florist. She ended her working career after many memorable years at Jones Brand & Hullin. She was one of the founding members of St. Ignatius Parish and enjoyed her years of service as an active member of the St. Ignatius Altar Society and Mercy Guild. She also has a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Friends were invited for visitation on Wednesday, December 18 at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish from 5:00pm-7:00pm where the Rosary was prayed at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, December 19 at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish at 10:00am with a reception to follow. She was laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Sacramento.
