Josephine "Jo" Osa Raimondi

Our mother, Josephine (Jo) Osa Raimondi, AKA "Nonnie", passed away peacefully and with her six children by her side, on January 7, 2014, at the age of 86. She is now in heaven reunited and enjoying a lovely bottle of wine with her loving husband and our wonderful dad, Frank Raimondi, along with her parents, Ignacio and Maria Osa, and many siblings. A Vigil Service was held at 7:00pm, Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Church of the Holy Spirit at 3159 Land Park Drive in Sacramento. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00am, Saturday, January 11, also at the Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Dan Looney presiding. She was laid to rest beside her husband/our dad at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mom grew up in Susanville, CA, with her nine siblings and moved in her early 20s to the big city of San Francisco, CA, where she worked at the Hotel Espanol and met the love of her life, Frank Raimondi. They married on April 15, 1950, and first lived in Guerneville, CA. Over 54 years of marriage and raising their 6 children, they lived in Sacramento, Santa Rosa and finally back to Sacramento, where they built a home and resided in the William Land Park area beginning in 1962. Mom's real profession and true calling was raising her family and caring for her husband/our dad. She supported her children's schools through Mother's Club, athletic events, class field trips and other activities, as well as volunteer organizations such as Mercy Hospital and the Sacramento Food Bank. Mom stepped into the retail business world with a successful candy and ice cream store (Calico Confections) in Old Sacramento during the 70's and 80's. Our dream came true. our Mom owning a candy and ice cream store. Imagine that! We have many fond memories of late night visits with family and friends using Mom's key to the store. Mostly, Mom was incredibly proud of her six children and 13 grandchildren. She often told friends and family that her proudest accomplishments were that all six of her children graduated from college, had married well (and only once) and that they (and their spouses - the "outlaws") all got along. Not hard to understand once you knew Mom and Dad and the example they set for their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, six of her siblings and by her grandson, Joseph Raimondi. Mom is survived by her six children, Richard (and Georgiann) of Boise, Idaho; Renee (and Jeff) Deming of Redwood City, California; Deb (and Bruce) Bynum of Corvallis, Oregon; Teri (and Bill) Christiansen of Cameron Park, California; Frank (and Cathy) Raimondi Jr. of Portland, Oregon; and Tina (and Mike) Taylor of Eagle, Idaho; her 12 grandchildren (Matthew, Megan and Emily Raimondi, Nicholas and Andrew Deming, Dylan and Claire Bynum, Erik and Marie Christiansen, Steven Raimondi, Zach and Alex Taylor); her siblings Louise Camacho, Mateo (Spud) Osa and Nicholas Osa; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear extended family friends. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Mom's name to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, 3333 Third Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95817, or to St. Luke's Health Foundation, 190 E. Bannock Street, Boise, ID 83702.
