In Sacramento on January 25, 2014, just two days shy of her 92nd birthday. Harriet now rejoins her beloved husband, Carl E. Boyer, who passed in 2006. Loving mother of Carl Boyer Jr. (wife, Jan), Sister Carmelita, Tom Boyer (Diane), Mary Kirchheimer (Robert), and Sarah Koch (Todd). Harriet was born in Antigo, Wisconsin on January 27, 1922 to Frank and Sadie Nimtz, the youngest of seven children. She attended St. Joseph's Nursing School in Chicago, Illinois, where she earned her RN degree. It was in Chicago that she met her future husband on a blind date, and she and Carl were married in 1944. Harriet worked as a nurse for many years, mainly in geriatrics. She was a devout Catholic, a member of The Legion of Mary, and a Secular Carmelite since 1957. Harriet possessed many creative talents, including writing poetry, and she hosted many bountifully decorated holiday parties, always including those who had no one else to celebrate with. She was devoted to her children, always their biggest fan in sports, and as competitive as any of them. She is also survived by three granddaughters, a grandson, and two great granddaughters. Funeral services and interment have been held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate Mass offered for the repose of her soul, and/or Memorials to the Carmelites of Georgetown, or to the scholarship fund at Holy Spirit School.
