Kenneth passed away peacefully on March 28, 2014 at the age of 86. He was born on January 12, 1928 in San Mateo, CA the son of Albert and Eloise Schillig. He is survived by his three children, Eric (Linda) of Redwood City, CA; daughter Anne of Sacramento; daughter Lisette (Mark) of Lock Haven, PA; and grandson Martin Agosta of Sacramento. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Greta, to whom he was married for 57 years, and by his brother, Kevin. Ken grew up in Burlingame, CA, graduated from San Jose State, served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, and taught for the Sacramento City Unified School District for over 25 years before retiring in 1986. He held a deep love for the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and was especially fond of the times spent in Yosemite. He was an avid skier, a long-standing member of the Peninsula Ski Club, and had the great satisfaction at the age of 82 of winning a gold medal in his class at the NASTAR National Championships in 2010. In addition, he enjoyed wood working that included building a family cabin in Truckee, CA. He will be greatly missed. A special note of appreciation to the Mercy General Cardiac ICU doctors and nurses whose care and compassion provided great comfort to Ken and his family. A private Funeral Mass was held at Holy Spirit Church in Sacramento. Burial will be private.
