Mary Ellen Ostoja

Mary Ellen passed away peacefully in Sacramento on April 24, 2014. Beloved wife of 64 years to Joseph J. Ostoja, loving mother of Mary Jo Woods and husband Robert Woods, cherished grandmother of Justin and Britni Woods, loving sister of Anna Marie Barbeau and the late Kathleen Clare Perich, sister in law to Marie Lucas, Eva Ostoja, and Michael Ostoja (Florida). She is the daughter of the late Thomas and Nellie Griffin. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews along with their families. A native and lifetime resident of Sacramento and parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. She was active in the Mercy Guild and Immaculate Conception Altar Society. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy where she was student body President. She never forgot anything or any date and was always quick to share a story and make you laugh. She will be missed but never forgotten. A decade of the Rosary was said in her memory on Tuesday, April 29 at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception Church, 3263 1st Avenue, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which was offered for the repose of her soul. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to The Sacramento Food Bank or Christian Brothers High School.
