Born on July 24, 1917, in Sisseton, South Dakota. Passed away on June 29, 2014, in Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Mary Isabelle King, and son, James King. Survived by: loving daughters, Marilyn Astore (Fred), Margaret Ebeling Gipson (Walt), Linda Conroy (Don) and Jeanne Ballard (Glenn), along with sons, George King (Nancy), Timothy King (Jody), John King (Patricia), Reverend Tommy King, OFM, and Gary King (Cheryl). He was a devoted grandfather to: Lisa Brent (David), Mick Ebeling (Val), Lance Ebeling (Myra), Colin King, Peter Conroy (Lisa), Jeff King (Amy), Brian King (Nancy), Brittany Ballard (Jason Alexander), Katherine Coughlin (David) and Michelle King. Beloved great-grandfather to: Eva, Julian and Alma Brent; Angus, Bo and Trace Ebeling; Enzo Ebeling; Dean, Corbin, Quinn and Sage King; and Ethan King. Lynn was one of four children raised on a small farm. During the Depression, he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps Camps to support his family. He met and later married the love of his life, Mary McCarthy, in Minneapolis, MN, in 1940. After serving in World War II, he moved his family to California. He retired as Regional Sales Manager for Phillips Petroleum and continued consulting in related fields until the age of 81. In retirement, Lynn was active as a Eucharistic Minister in his parish. He also provided support for families with troubled teens, transportation for the elderly and tutoring for students in an elementary school. In 2002, the Sacramento County Office of Education named Lynn "Volunteer of the Year," for his work in the Intergenerational Project, a program dedicated to providing academic support for struggling K-3 students. Lynn will be remembered for his deep faith and devotion to family, quick wit and zest for life. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Francis Church, 1066 26th Street, Sacramento, CA. Reception to follow at Riverside Clubhouse, 2633 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, CA. A private graveside service, with a USAF Veteran's Tribute, will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery on July 16th, 2014.
