Terry Reardon July 6, 1950 - July 1, 2014 Terrence James Reardon who lost a 10 yr. battle with brain cancer, was born in Oakland to John & Marian Reardon. He grew up in Concord CA, attending Queen of All Saints school, Mt. Diablo HS and Diablo Valley College. With FDR Democrat parents, Terry was attracted to politics, walking his neighborhood at 8 yrs old with Former Assemblyman Jerry Waldie. He was hooked, working in every Presidential election from JFK to Obama. Growing more active in Contra Costa Politics, Terry worked campaigns, attended many Democratic National Conventions and later worked for family friend Congressman George Miller. As a Fresno State Alum, in 1978, Terry helped his S.A.E. Fraternity brother Jim Costa win an Assembly seat and for 24 yrs, he served as Chief-of-Staff for his longtime friend, both in the Assembly & State Senate. Later, before retiring, Terry worked for former Assembly member Joe Canciamilla. Blessed with a quick wit and Irish charm, Terry had a distinguished career in the Legislature, remembered for his policy and political expertise. He was a great friend and mentor to so many in Sacramento and throughout the country. His intellect and counsel will be missed. Always a world traveler, Terry visited almost every continent, including Southeast Asia, China and Europe, while in remission for the last several years. He was an honored guest at President Obama's inauguration and was an invited guest to the White House for a St. Patrick's Day celebration, courtesy of his buddy Congressman Jim Costa. True to his Catholic faith, Terry was generous and caring to others, especially his family, giving great care to his parents over many years until their passing. A remarkable Son, Brother, Cousin, Uncle and Friend, who fought the good fight and touched so many lives on his journey. Terry you have broken the bounds of earth's toils - May You Rest In Peace! Terry is survived by his brother Tim Reardon and his wife Julie, and their children Christopher & Stacey. Also survived by the McCormick families of Napa & San Francisco and the Waters of Hollister and dear family friends Marilyn King of Sacramento and Gen Bradley of Concord and former spouse Linda Adams of Sacramento. Special thanks to Carlton Crowne Plaza in Sacramento and staff for their care and comfort and to Palm Valley Care Services for their wonderful caregivers, especially Elvie Clonts, for her compassionate care for Terry in his last weeks. The family also expresses its gratitude to Dr. Susan Chang and UCSF Brain Tumor Center for their remarkable work in treating Terry, giving him hope and extending his life well beyond what was thought possible. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered for the repose of his soul on Tuesday, July 8 at 10:00am at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, 3235 Arden Way, Sacramento. A Celebration of Life Reception followed.
