Patricia Ann Mason Dellinger, born December 19, 1931, passed suddenly on July 6 following a recent cancer diagnosis. Pat was born in Tacoma, WA to Inga and Robert Mason. She graduated from Stadium High in Tacoma and San Jose State University where she majored in Psychology, was a member of the ski team and named "Snow Queen.". While attending San Jose State, she met and later married David Dellinger. They had four children: David (Victoria), Karen Nissen (Chris), Kimberley Dunn (George) and Deleane Mehler (Mark). She adored and was a constant source of inspiration and love to her grandchildren; Greer, Jack, Lucas (Morgan), Jessica, Troy, Adam (Sheena), Max and Deacon. She enthusiastically attended their school programs, sporting events and art shows, celebrated their accomplishments and always looked forward to gathering together with them whether a holiday or simple Sunday potluck. Along with raising her own four children, she was a second mom to many of their friends and always made they feel welcome in her home. Pat worked as a substitute teacher in special education and was instrumental in the start of a mobile toy library for disadvantaged children. In later years she worked as a Senior Community Employment Specialist with AARP. Pat had a great wit and wonderful smile. She enjoyed her daily paper, a good debate on just about anything, a competitive game of hearts or Pictionary with the family and trying new recipes. She was an avid SF Giants and 49er fan and rarely missed a game. She loved trips to the beach, Lake Tahoe, her annual adventures in Bellingham with her brother Rod and sister-in-law Mary. If you knew Pat, you'll know she would have hated a funeral. We celebrated her life, sharing stories, eating and having a toast in her honor on Friday July 25 in the late afternoon/evening. We thank those friends who were able to stop by and raise a glass to Pat as well as those who were there in spirit. The family would like to thank the caring nurses and doctors at Mercy General who took such delicate care of our mother. She will be dearly missed, loved and fondly remembered.
