R. Karl Anderson

Born September 9, 1939 in Oakland, CA, Karl passed away peacefully on September 27, 2014 in Sacramento. He is survived by his partner and best friend of 25 years, Marilyn Murphy, her sons Steven (Pam) and Michael Johns and her grandson Reyn; Karl's three children, Scott (Laurie), Todd (Shelly) and Debra Anderson; and grandchildren Annika, Madison, Whit, Griffin and Elise. Karl worked in the health care industry with Blue Shield in San Francisco and was a vice president of Blue Shield-OR, WA and AK. He retired in 2002 from Biomet, Inc - EBI, LLC. Karl was active in the Mercy Hospital Cardiac Rehab Program. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1961, was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, and played on the OSU basketball team. The 6-ft. 10-inch center held off the best of his opponents with his marvelous hook shot. A celebration of Karl's life will be held on Friday, October 24 at 11:00 am in the Campus Commons Clubhouse, 650 Commons Dr, Sacramento, CA 95825. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Marfan Foundation, www.Marfan.org to support research for the hereditary Marfan syndrome and related disorders.
