GEORGE, Carol Lee Carol Lee George, a fifty-eight-year resident of Sacramento and retired school aid, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the age of 81. She was the much-loved wife of her now deceased husband Armond George, a former principal in the Rio Linda School District, and mother of Sandra L. Stefan and Elaine M. Sledge. Carol was a supportive and loving grandmother of Courtney and Kyle Sledge, great-grandmother to Isaac, and mother-in-law to Tom Stefan and Don Adams. Her beloved and funny Schnauzer, Bogy, who now lives with Sandra and Tom, also survives Carol. Carol was born in Los Angeles, California in 1933, but grew up on Catalina Island with a pet goat, and then moved to Redding, California with her parents Sam and Catherine McNeese. She moved permanently to Sacramento with Armond in 1956. She took care of her two daughters for most of her career after working in the administrative office of Wonder Bread Bakery, but eventually worked for several schools in both the Rio Linda and San Juan School Districts as a school aide and librarian. After retirement, she was a co-owner for several years of an association management firm, Stefan/ George Associates, with Tom, Sandra and Armond. Carol was an excellent cook, put together impossible jig saw puzzles, taught herself to be an expert bonsai gardener, was famous for her needle point towels, and played many hours of golf with Armond. She also loved sailing with her family even though she did not know how to swim, and vacations at Sea Ranch and Bodega Bay with friends and family. Recently, after suffering from Alzheimer's, Carol moved to Sunrise of Carmichael, an assisted living facility, where she thrived under the staff's excellent and caring program. At Sunrise, she eagerly helped with meals and projects, and took over walking and feeding their resident dog, Calvin. Her family will miss her gracious manner, sly sense of humor, as well as her strength and her love. Carol's wishes were to be cremated with no services. Friends and relatives wishing to send the family condolences may send them to Elaine Sledge, PO Box 1794, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
