Arnold Rowell

Arnold Irving Rowell Arnold was born August 19, 1925 in Oakland, California. He graduated from CK McClatchy High School and attended Sacramento Junior College for one year prior to serving in the South Pacific as a Merchant Marine in WWII. After the war, he married Barbara Mayers, whom he had met in high school. They were married for 64 years. Arnold received his training as a Printing Pressman while in high school and college. During his career, he worked at Carlisle Printing in San Francisco, as an elected Pressman's Union Representative, and, together with Barbara, owned several different printing businesses. In 1957, Arnold and Barbara moved to Pacifica, California, where they lived for 36 years, working at their printing business and raising 6 children. Arnold was an avid amateur photographer; he loved music, musical theater and travel. He was a talented card player and always had a book and a crossword puzzle in his back pocket. Upon retiring in 1993, Arnold and Barbara "hit the road" living and travelling throughout the US and Canada in their fifth-wheeler trailer. After 7 years on the road, they settled in Shingle Springs in 2000. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gene and Leonard, and his beloved Barbara. He is survived by his children Larry, David, Debbie, Tracey, Cheryl and Carol, 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. A Celebration of Life will be held at Rocklin Cemetery on Friday, February 13 at 11:00 am. Remembrances in Arnold's name can be sent to the "CNA Education Fund" at Gold Country Health Center in Placerville.
