John Edward Chrzanowski June 9th, 1917- May 6, 2015 John Edward Chrzanowski died at his home last Wednesday with his daughters at his side at the age of 97. John was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the eldest of nine children. He was the first generation American of Polish immigrant parents. He served in the Army for 4 years during WWII in the military police and as a radio operator and signalman for the 361st anti-aircraft Artillery Company in the Pacific. John moved his family from Chicago to Sacramento when Proctor & Gamble solicited workers for their new plant here in the west. John worked for Proctor & Gamble for 25 years as their primary electrician and problem solver. When something didn't work at the plant, they would call John to fix it. As the first early retiree at age 60, he enjoyed a wonderful 37 years of time off. He was a member of the American Legion Post 452, a lifetime and founding member of the Carmichael Elks Lodge #2103 and a long time parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann and his son, Robert. John is surived by his sisters Eleanor Grandinetti, Yvonne (John) Evangelisti and brother Bernard (Alice) Chrzanowski, his children Richard (Judy) Chrzanowski, Donna (Craig) Hollingsworth, and DeeAnn (Dan) Chan, his grandchildren Richard (Tricia) Chrzanowski II, Megan (Robert) Heather, Erik Hollingsworth, Heidi Hollingsworth, Lyle (Stevie) Chan, and Katie Chan, and great grandchildren Bode Chan and Emma Chrzanowski. John loved music, especially Lawerence Welk, and dancing, and most of all, his country and his family. John was a staunch American. He was the rock for all of his family, but especially for his children. We will miss him dearly. A Catholic funeral will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Parish at 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael, CA. at 11:00am on Friday, May 22, 2015. Following the service will be a Celebration of Life at St. John's Hall behind the church.
