McAllister, Jr., Neil Robinson Born in Sacramento on May 31, 1924 in the family home near Curtis Park to Neil Robinson McAllister, Sr. and Irma Sheehan McAllister. Died peacefully in his sleep at home on August 7, 2015. Preceded in death by his infant brother, Tommy, his loving parents, his dear sister Mary Jane, loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and his beloved wife of 57½ years, Ann Brown McAllister. He is survived by his devoted family: MaryAnn, Neil and Katie McAllister; beloved grandchildren: Heidi Scharrenberg (Matthew), Brien Noonan (Megan), Brigetta Shelton (Benjamin), and Kelly Carson; beloved great-grandchildren: Thomas, Theodore and Henry Scharrenberg, Jamie Noonan, Leo and Oakleigh Shelton, and Madison Carson. Beloved uncle of Richard Chapman and Sally Ann Dillon (Glen). Beloved Great-Uncle of Katie Chapman and Jeffery Peterson. Also survived by beloved First Cousin Roger Robinson (Tommi) and dear cousins and friends. Neil was a proud member of the first graduating class at McClatchy High School in Sacramento and a graduate of U.C. Berkeley. He served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Philippines in World War II. After the war, he graduated from Santa Clara University Law School. Introduced by his cousin, Patty Cole, Neil and his sweetheart, Ann, were married at Immaculate Conception Church on April 23, 1949. Neil chose lifelong friend, Elton B. Sherwin, as his Best Man. He enjoyed his career as an attorney in Sacramento for over 50 years. Neil and Ann treasured each other, their family and extended family, and their many dear friends. They enjoyed golf and annual family vacations in Santa Cruz and Graeagle. A highlight was their visit to the original McAllister farmhouse in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, birthplace of Neil's father and his many beloved aunts and uncles. Neil was active for many years in the Knights of Columbus and served on numerous boards and councils in the Diocese of Sacramento. He and Ann were members of Sacred Heart Parish for over 45 years and, previously, St. Joseph Parish in Elk Grove and Immaculate Conception Parish in Sacramento. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 15 at Sacred Heart Church, 1040 39th St., Sacramento, followed by burial at East Lawn Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Sacred Heart School Foundation, 1040 39th St., Sacramento, CA 95816.
