Susan Howard

Susan Bergen Howard (nee Fletcher) was a record setter. She was the first born child in Columbus, Ohio, in 1945 (winning the Hilltop Baby Derby for that year) and she was the first born child of (the late) Edward and Alyse Fletcher. She went on setting records in her lifetime, going from a part-time teller to a vice president in her 45 year career in the field of real estate banking. Anyone who knew Sue knows also that she set records in her love for her pets, her plants, and her Starbuck's delights. They also know of her artistry in needlepoint and knitting. Sue died of congestive heart failure at Sutter Roseville Hospital on Friday, August 14. Interment will be private. She is survived by her brothers, John and Michael Fletcher, her sisters, Christine Zehnder and Catherine Ernst, and her former husband, Jerry Bergen.
