Donald Lee "Buster" Brown went home to be with Jesus, passing peacefully from this life to the next, on the morning of September 21, 2015 just 5 days after his 92nd birthday. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Carolyn, parents John Wesley "Brownie" Brown and Agnes Brown. He is survived by his three children, Debbie Powell (Bill), Tami Choiniere (Kevin), and Dan Brown (Brenda). He is Grandpa to Christopher Powell, Stacia Taplin (Matt), Kimber Hargan (Kevin), Reagan, Abigail, Magnus and Clara Brown. He is Great Grandpa to Will, Toby and Bryson Taplin. He is also survived by his younger brother Dale Brown. Don was born in the panhandle of OK and one of his earliest childhood memories were of being on the railroad with the family as his dad was a foreman for a RR company. He loved to swim, and there was a community pool down the street from his home in Clinton, OK. He became a Jr. Lifeguard. They were called S.O.S. es. His first job was working for the movie theater in Clinton. He loved football, and played both offensive and defensive line positions. Don joined the Army in 1943 and served during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater at New Caledonia as a Teletype Mechanic and Cryptograph Repairman. It was while he was repairing a wire/line that he fell from a telephone pole and broke several vertebrae in his back which began his life long struggle with chronic back pain. He was a long time resident of Sacramento, which is where Carolyn & Don raised their children. Don worked briefly as a Guard at Folsom Prison before getting a job with the County Marshall's department in Sacramento. He was a bailiff at the old Sacramento County Courthouse before he had a fall and injured his back again, which led to his retirement. He had his first heart attack less than 6 months later and was told he would only live another 6 months. Thankfully the Lord had another diagnosis in mind! Don is a recent resident of Martinez, moving in with his daughter Tami and son-in-law Kevin in January of 2008 after the passing of his wife Carolyn in May 2007. He began attending Hope Center Covenant Church with them and was quickly welcomed into the church family. He touched many lives with his beautiful smile and great sense of humor Don suffered through many, many, health issues, including Parkinson's disease. We are so thankful that, now he is with Jesus, he has no more pain, and he is with his sweetheart again.
