Robert J. "Bob" Manders, 59, of Citrus Heights passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at home. He was born September 19, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan and was the son of the late William G. and the late Gloria C. Manders and the brother of William G. Manders Jr. and Constance E. Manders. He was a 1981 graduate of Cal State Sacramento where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government-Journalism. He worked in sales throughout his life. Bob had a wonderful sense of humor and was an avid football fan who, as a young man, possessed impressive athletic abilities. From the time he was a little boy, he loved to tinker and was a natural handyman and mechanic who kept his classic Toyota running year-after-year. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent his free time hiking the Sierras and exploring Yosemite. From 1988 through 1995, Bob put aside his own desires and dedicated his life to caring for his mom and dad during their respective and terminal battles with cancer and traumatic brain injury. He never complained; instead he embraced this great responsibility by showing love, patience, and devotion to ensure his parents remained comfortable and able to remain living at home until their passing. He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by siblings, Bill (Teresa) Manders of Chula Vista, CA, and Coni Manders of West Hills, CA. He is also survived by his nephews, Mark Manders, Matthew Manders, and Nikolas Manders and his niece Alexandria Manders, all of Southern California, Nestor (Michelle) Beltran of Honolulu, HI, and his aunt and uncle, Kay (Leon) Manders-Briggs of Camarillo, CA, and John (Pauline) Mandelaris of Flint, MI. He is also survived by numerous cousins. A Memorial Service will be held in Bob's memory at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Masonic Lawn Cemetery, 2700 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, CA. with W. F. Gormley and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. For additional information please call 916-443-6513. The family wishes to extend special thanks to cousins, Dr. Richard and Darlene Mandelaris, and family friend, Steve Kondos, for the years of unconditional love and support they gave Bob. Additionally, special thanks to Bob's lifelong friends, Jay and Kerry Warmack, Peter Klein, Gary Martin, Christopher Mills, Craig Mills, and to Anthony Ruiz. The family requests remembrances be made in Bob's name to a charity of one's choice. May His Memory Be Eternal!
