William James Todd Brandt

William James Todd Brandt, 95, of Sacramento, died October 10, 2015. He was born July 22, 1920 in Los Angeles to Edna and William Brandt. Bill attended UCLA and was a member of the Zeta Psi fraternity. He was the first page boy NBC hired for their new west coast radio shows featuring stars such as Bing Crosby and Jack Benny. During WWII, he served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army and was injured as a paratrooper. After he recuperated, he was transferred to Special Services, where he served on the Queen Elizabeth's Atlantic troop transport runs. He married Martha Wilson of West Virginia. They settled in Los Angeles. He was recalled to service in 1950 to Korea, and retired as a Major. He was self-employed, with William Brandt & Company with offices in Fresno, Stockton, Reno and Sacramento. William Brandt & Company was in business for 49 years. He was a pioneer for computerized automotive follow up for service stations. He was a member of the Sutter Club, Del Paso CC, and a former member of the downtown Rotary Club. Survivors include Martha, his wife of 67 years, 2 children, Mary Gould and William Brandt, 2 grandchildren, Alexis Friedrich and John Rutz, 2 great-grandchildren, Lucy and Sullivan Friedrich and his sister Carol Williamson. Bill considered himself to be a lucky man blessed with a rich, full life. A private family service will be held at the deceased's request. The family wishes to thank the kind professionals at Sutter General Hospital.
