Nov. 22, 1954 - Oct. 16, 2015 Therese McDermott Cantrell (60) passed away Friday, October 16 after a two year battle with multiple myeloma. She was surrounded by her husband and children. Therese was born November 22, 1954 in Amarillo, Texas. Her family headed west and settled in Davis in 1972. She was a beacon of light and love. She made friends quickly, many life-long. Therese had a zest for life, a quick wit, and a magnetic personality. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed golfing, traveling, decorating and having wine with friends. One of her friends said it best upon hearing of her passing, "I think Heaven's going to get some new pillows." This past year Therese enjoyed Christmas and the Fourth of July in San Francisco, and just four short weeks before her passing, a trip to Maui with her husband. Therese raised her family in Davis and was a founding member and President of the Davis Junior Blue Devil football team. She worked as an office manager for most of her life. After her children were grown she and her husband moved to Sacramento to enjoy an urban lifestyle. She was preceded in death by her father, Francis "Frank" McDermott; mother Muriel McDermott; brother Patrick Frances McDermott; and nephew Patrick Ian McDermott. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Randy; daughter Lyndsay; son Nick; siblings Susan Walgenbach, Timothy McDermott, Geri McDermott, Kathy Klenzendorf, Joan McDermott-Duke, Fran McDermott, Robert McDermott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her smile, sense of humor, friendship, love and laughter will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
