Mary Elizabeth Flynn

Born to the late William Francis and Clare Elsie Morebeck (nee Carmody) in the winter of 1943, Betsy was a 4th generation Sacramentan. She attended Holy Spirit Elementary School, St. Joseph's Academy, and Bishop Armstrong High School. Betsy's father, a successful Sacramentan entrepreneur and owner of Morebeck's Flower Shop, insisted his children get a higher education, so she attended Sacramento City College and then a local secretarial school. Her first job was for Eddie Lazzaroni at Rainbow Liquor Distribution, which she loved and recounting the wild stories from her time there always brought laughter. Betsy met the love of her life, Richard Flynn, on Christmas 1974 and 5 short months later they were married. Betsy had been warned against becoming pregnant due to an earlier diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis. Never one to be told no she risked her life beating the odds so she and Richard could welcome their baby boy, Richard Alan Flynn in 1976. She loved volunteering at Rich's school and being "mom" to every kid who crossed her doorstep. "Ma Flynn's Cabana Club" was the name her home was lovingly dubbed by her son's generation to whom she opened her heart and home. Membership came with a hug, a dose of good advice, BBQ, cookies and pool access. Her home was always filled with teenagers, loved ones, laughter, and friendship. As if that wasn't enough the entrepreneurial bug bit and she and her husband opened a small parcel courier service in 1990. When her husband's M.S. progressed, Betsy stepped to the forefront successfully running and growing their business for 25 years. She is survived by her son Richard Flynn & Rose Giudicessi, her children Taryn & Evan, brother & sister-in-law Will & Joan Morebeck, nephews & their spouses Seth & Barbara Morebeck, & Mathew & Heather Morebeck, grandnieces & nephews Madison, Cutter, Riley and Grace. She also leaves behind a beloved sister-in-law Adrienne Flynn & long-time personal assistant & friend Camari Nasolo & her children Leann, Matthew & Noah. Her family & friends will always remember Betsy's fierce devotion to loved ones, feisty Irish nature & indomitable spirit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for the repose of her soul at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Holy Spirit Church, on Land Park Drive.
