Robert Leon Lee "Bob" was born in Dustin, Oklahoma May 9, 1934 to James and Lillian Lee. He is survived by his wife Judy and would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on August 30. Bob is the father of Traci Lee Crawford (deceased) and Margot Joy Camp, and father-in law to Jon Crawford, and Terry Camp. He was the devoted grandfather to Caitlin Crawford and Joshua Crawford and future grandfather-in-law to Adam Linney. Bob was also mentor and loving friend to Andrew Shuck. He leaves behind other relatives, beloved friends, and treasured colleagues. Bob served four years in the United States Navy at the close of the Korean War. He graduated from San Francisco State University majoring in Civil Engineering, spending most of his career in municipal government. His career began with the City of Oakland, then Traffic Engineer for Livermore, Director of Transportation for the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, and retiring from the City of Sacramento as Public Works Director. After retirement Bob worked for private consulting firms instrumental in establishing Public Works Departments for newly incorporated cities within Sacramento County. He served as the first City Engineer for Citrus Heights. He also served on the committee to incorporate the City of Elk Grove. After incorporation, Bob signed on with Interwest Consultants to help organize Elk Grove's Public Works Department serving as Elk Grove's first City Engineer from 2002 to 2010. He was lovingly referred to among his colleagues with the City as "the grandfather of the company" and was a man that could bring disagreements to a peaceful consensus. Bob belonged to Valley Hi Country Club where he was an avid golfer and organized scholarship fund-raisers for deserving high school graduates through Interwest. He was active in Creekside Christian Church (AKA First Baptist) where he taught Children's Sunday School, served as an usher, and was on the building committee. He left this earth for a better place on June 29, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He will be missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday July 15, 10:00 a.m. at Creekside Christian Church, 8939 East Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove with lunch and reminiscing to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Creekside Christian Church, World Vision, or Sacramento Union Gospel Mission.
