Ruth L. Gill, Sacramento native. Born August 2, 1930, died July 27, 2016. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, David H. Gill, parents George and Ida Niederost and brothers, Tony and Richard. Survived by her niece Vicki Niederost Rau. After graduating from Sacramento High School Ruth joined the work force. First working at Pacific Bell Telephone and then starting a 40 year career with the Department of Highways. In 1989 she received a Superior Accomplishment Award for her project development with the department. While she and Dave both had full time jobs there was always time made to travel. London, Switzerland, Italy, Hawaii and their favorite the Cayman Islands. Ruth's love of dogs was obvious. She was never long without one by her side. The only requirement being the dog must weigh as much as her! Ruth stayed active after she retired in 1992. She belonged to a hiking group and several coffee klatches. Friends will remember her stellar work ethic and wry sense of humor. Would like to thank Paul and Dorica for the wonderful care of Ruth at their home Outlook Senior Care in Auburn.
