Bill was born May 10, 1917 to King and Mamie Silva and passed away peacefully on September 8, 2016. A lifelong resident of Sacramento, Bill graduated Christian Bros. HS in 1935 and attended Business College. He worked for the CA Food and Ag Dept. for 38 years, retiring as an Accounting Officer. Bill was drafted before WWII and served 55 months as a M. Sgt. He belonged to many clubs: American Portuguese, Southside Improvement, Over the Hill Gang, Portuguese Hist. Society, SRS #3, Knights of Columbus and Y.M.I. He was also very active at Sacred Heart Church. Bill was a caring man who was blessed with 99 wonderful years. He always had a smile to share and loved helping his many friends and family coined the "Mayor of 40th Street" in a Sac Bee article. Bill read the newspaper every day and loved watching the SF Giants and the 49ers. He is preceded in death by his wife Anne, sons Richard and Michael, and brother Norman. He leaves behind his daughter Catherine (Steve), granddaughters Lauren (Greco) and Nikki, great grandchildren Simone and Orion, and many nieces and nephews. Donations to Christian Bros HS can be made in lieu of flowers. A service will be held at Sacred Heart Church on September 29th at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow.
