In Sacramento, November 27, 2016. Beloved wife of William John Stein, Jr., loving mother of Susan Henas, Michael Stein, Jayne Buchanan, and Edward Stein, mother-in-law of Dane Henas, Teresa Stein, and Jeffrey Buchanan, daughter of the late Adelina and Antonio Cabral, sister of Edward Cabral, John Cabral, Joseph Cabral, and Tony Cabral, cherished grandmother of Eric and Sarah Stein, Brian and Joanna Buchanan, and Claire Buchanan, great grandmother of Emma Stein and Austin Stein. A native of Ligares, Portugal and a 86 year resident of Sacramento, aged 88 years. Alice's skills with a sewing machine and needle & thread were admired. She sewed clothing for her daughters and their dolls, she hand-pieced and hand-quilted lovely quilts; she made altar cloths for her parish church; and she assisted with sewing projects at Mercy McMahon Terrace, her final home. Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass which will be offered for the repose of her soul at Sacred Heart Church, 1040 39th Street, Friday, December 2, at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private. Thank you, Mercy McMahon residents and staff, for including our mother, Alice, in your Mercy McMahon family. And a special thanks for all the loving care at the end of her life.
