Albert George Cooper, a 38-year resident of Sacramento, born in New York City on November 16th 1948 to George and Marguerite Cooper, passed unexpectedly, yet peacefully in his home on December 14th, 2016.
Albert dedicated his life to serving others as a Petty Officer in the Navy, during his 34-year career with the State of California, through his leadership for the Arden Park Soccer Club and Arden Little League, and in his retirement as a docent at the California State Railroad Museum.
In his life Al had a great interest in the history of the United States, particularly the Civil War, and spent time traveling and visiting historic Civil War landmarks and National Parks. Al also had a great many interests including Teddy Roosevelt, wine, Hawaii, and his numerous collections.
A loving husband and father, Al is survived by his wife Annabel Davidow Cooper, children Lindsey Lederer and Eric Cooper, mother-in-law Elaine Davidow, son-in-law Stephen Lederer and his beloved dog Sammy.
A celebration of life service will be held on January 12th at 12:30 PM at Congregation B’Nai Israel, 3600 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95818. In the spirit of Al’s love for Hawaii the family requests that those attending wear a Hawaiian shirt in his honor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Al’s honor to the California State Railroad Museum or the National Park Foundation.
