In Sacramento on January 31, 2017. Sue was born on August 18, 1936 to Jack and Charlotte (Pepper) Mayhood. She is survived by her sister, Sandra MacBride of Fresno, her daughter Debbie (Dan) Cairns of Sacramento, son Pete (Shelley) Sheehan, also of Fresno. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Daniel, Patrick, and Erin Cairns of Sacramento, and Matthew, Nicholas and Sarah Sheehan of Fresno.
Sue was a 1954 graduate of C.K. McClatchy High School where she was a song leader and active in Student Government. In 1956, she married Sacramento native Joe Sheehan, and began her most important career as Homemaker, and PTA, Girl Scout, and Little League Mom. Later in life, with encouragement from family and friends, she embarked on a successful 20+ year real estate career. Sue also enjoyed freelance writing, favorite topics being travel related and the California coast.
Sue’s lifetime love for the California coast, originated from childhood summer vacations with her parents, sister, and friends in the Monterey Bay area. This love was passed on to her own family, with many lifelong friendships formed and developed on “The Beach” with Joe and her children.
She was preceded in death by her Parents and her Aunts, Inez & Lois Pepper, and Iris Waldon, whom she adored. In recent years, Sue re-kindled a relationship with a grade school classmate, Tom Lawrie, at their High School reunion. For 10 years they loved sharing time and mutual interests, including supporting The Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Sue was always a strong supporter of Junior Golf, and the interest that it held for her children and grandchildren.
