Neudeck, 91, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017, at his home in Sacramento.
Don was born in Carson City, Nevada but grew up and lived in Sacramento. He graduated from Sacramento High School and UC Berkeley. He served in the US Navy in WWII aboard the USS Oakland. In 1988, he retired from the California Department of Water Resources as Chief of Flood Management. He kept active with SIRS #102 and volunteered his time as a docent at the California State Railroad Museum. Don also narrated on the Amtrak train giving the history of the railroad between Sacramento and Reno monthly. Don and his late wife Bette were recipients of Jesuit’s Insignis Award for outstanding commitment to volunteer service. Don thoroughly enjoyed spending his winters and summers at the cabin he built for his family at Lake Tahoe. Don is survived by his 3 children, Nancy (Mike) Martin, Chris (Rita) Neudeck, and Randall (Vivian) Neudeck. He dedicated his life to his family, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Please join us for a celebration of his life on Thursday, March 2, from 6 - 9pm at the California State Railroad Museum, 111 I St. Sacramento in Old Sacramento.
Donations may be made in his name to the California State Railroad Museum or Jesuit High School, Carmichael, CA.
