Passed into heaven 03/09/2017 after a warriors fight with cancer. Born 05/01/1949 to Richard A. Cockrum, Sr. and E. Greta Cockrum (deceased) of Atton TN. Born in San Diego, CA. and raised in Knoxville, Tn. A 1967 graduate of Fulton High School and 1971 Graduate of Furman University and 1977 graduate of Univ. of Oklahoma Banking School. Lived in Sacramento with his loving wife, Cathleen, who survives him. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, M.Elizabeth McLeod (Chris) of Nashville, two step sons, Christopher (Stephanie) Dougherty of Sacramento and in San Francisco, Charles Dougherty, also two adoring granddaughters, Julia and Emily Dougherty of Sacramento. Two younger brothers, Richard, Jr. (Pam) of Texas and Michael of Afton, Tennessee. He will be missed by many loving cousins, Aunt and Uncles from his large Cockrum family and many many friends. A star athlete in school (both High School and College). Steve had a successful career as an executive banker while teaching finances in a community college, later joining the SBA/ Office of Disaster Assistance to financially aid businesses damaged by declared disasters, retiring in 2014. He had a heart as tall as he was.
A Celebration of his life will be held March 25 at Lucca's, 1625 J Street, Sacramento, CA., from 2PM to 4PM.
