Gordon Bryte Hughes Sr.

Gordon Bryte Hughes, Sr, passed away peacefully at the family home on May 20, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. He was born February 21, 1935 in Sacramento, California. He was the son of the late Gordon Stanley Hughes and Ruth Bryte Hughes.  He is predeceased by his loving wife Nora Tinling Hughes, and beloved son, Gordon Bryte Hughes, Jr. Gordon was a fourth generation Sacramentan, and was a descendent from the Stanley, Bryte, and Hughes Families. Gordon will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and “Papa” . His kindness and quick wit will never be forgotten. He was a passionate navigator of the Delta aboard the “Bryte Star” where he spent long weekends with family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Hughes Rubier (Scott) ,grandsons Warren and Thomas; Daughter in law, Elizabeth Hughes, granddaughters, Katheryn and Christen- Bryte Hughes, stepdaughters, Hilary Wagner, Lisa Wagner, Norah Smith (Ian) grandaughter Marion and brother Thomas Hughes (Martha) and family. A private internment will be held for Gordon at the Masonic Lawn Cemetary. A Celebration of His Life will be held at the family home Sunday, June 4th, from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
