GARIBAY, Gloria B. "Bonnie"

Born on September 12, 1946 in Sacramento CA; passed away on June 12, 2017.  Preceded in death by her parents, Gloria and Henry Garibay and brother, Henry Garibay (Justine).  Sister to Esmeralda (Jim) McIntosh; Marta Fragoso and Yvonne (Pat) Lyles.  Aunt to David Garibay, Gabriel Rodriguez, Anastacia Mendoza, Justin Nizer, Edward Fragoso, Cody Leal and Cambron Lyles.  Great-aunt to Matthew, Darian and Alex Rodriguez; Elias, Issac, André, Lilliana Fragoso and Isaiah Luna. Ms. Garibay graduated from Bishop Armstrong High School in 1964; entered the Sisters of Mercy of Auburn in 1964 and remained a member until 1971; graduated from the San Francisco College for Women in 1969 and taught for two years at Our Lady of Fatima School in Sacramento.  She was a Sacramento County Reserve Deputy Sheriff prior to her 25 year career with CA Dept. of Corrections.  In 2000, she retired from CDC as a Correctional Administrator and then served as a Call 3 volunteer with KCRA-TV Channel 3 and KOVR-TV Channel 13 “Call Kurtis” program.  She was a Sister of Mercy Associate for many years. Ms. Garibay cherished the long-term relationships she had with her grammar school classmates; the Sisters of Mercy, her friends in the Sacramento PD, Sherriff’s Dept. and Corrections.  She loved her siblings and her numerous relatives who all filled her heart with happiness. A rosary will be prayed at Good Shepard Catholic Church, 9539 Racquet Ct., Elk Grove CA at 7 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2017; a Mass of Christian burial will be held at the church at 10 AM on Thursday, June 29, 2017.  In Lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Sisters of Mercy 535 Sacramento Street, Auburn, CA 95603, or the Trappist Monks Abbey of New Clairvaux, 26240 7th Street, Vina CA 96062. Private burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
