Ralph Ross Cummings

Ralph Ross Cummings, 88, passed away on June, 29, 2017. He was born September 23, 1928 in Berkeley, CA to parents Ross and Marjorie Cummings. With his first wife, Martha Forsythe (deceased), he had two sons, Douglas and David Cummings. Ralph is survived by his sons and second wife, Eleanor “Sis” Gaines Sibbett Cummings, and her children, Anne Spies, Bill Sibbett, Scott Sibbett, Donald Sibbett, and Jane Sibbett, plus 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren -- all who adored him. Among his many teaching positions, his favorite was that of an outdoor educator for the Moraga School District. His love of nature and the outdoors was reflected in The Naturalist, a store he lovingly co-owned and operated with his wife, Sis, in Davis, CA. He was a tireless volunteer at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sacramento. Ralph was well-loved for his charm, wit, and gentle spirit. At the end of his life, Ralph was cared for in Sacramento by the staff at Love and Serenity, and by hospice caregivers. For their loving care, Ralph's family expresses their profound gratitude. A memorial mass will be held in Sacramento at St. Anthony Parish at 11:00 A.M. on July 28. Ralph was a lifelong contributor of blood to BloodSource, having donated just 2 pints short of 800. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a donation of blood.
