With the recent passing of Lonnie Hickman, the heavens have gained a new sportscaster, and an ardent supporter of the Sacramento Kings, the 49'ers, the Oakland Raiders, and the Giants, Oakland A's, and the Rivercats. Lonnie was born with a handicap that limited him only physically. He was an enthusiastic lover of life and a loyal and supportive man to all this family and countless friends. He enjoyed attending ball games and musical concerts, and was passionate about country western music. Lonnie had a very special loving and connected relationship with his surviving parent, Gloria Freeman. He was loved and respected as a man of goodwill, courage, and inspiration to his large extended family and abundant friends. We wish to express our endless thanks to the many caregivers and healthcare professionals who have treated Lonnie throughout his life with dignity, compassion, and ultimately friendship. A special thanks to the staff at Midtown Oaks where Lonnie resided for more than three decades. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Gormley and Sons, 2015 Capitol Avenue in Sacramento at 11am. Lonnie will be interred at a private family service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lonnie's name are encouraged to the InAlliance Program located at 6950 21st Avenue, Sacramento, California 95820. This remarkable program and its wonderful staff deeply enriched Lonnie's life and always treated him as the treasure he was to us all.
