Monte Douglas (Doug) DeWitt passed away peacefully on December 9, 2017 surrounded by family. Born July 21, 1951 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was passionate about his career as a nurse anesthetist and called himself an epidural artist. He provided relief to countless laboring women for over 30 years during his career as a CRNA. Doug was blessed with a great sense of humor, a love for alternate sources of energy, the Native American and Puerto Rican cultures, traveling, coffee, eating delicious meals and spending time with his family. He was an honorable, brilliant man with a heart of gold who would do anything for his loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife Dr. Carmen R. González, his children Julie and Lindsay DeWitt, stepchildren Carmen and Jorge Carazo, grandchildren Gustavo Carazo and Matías DeFelice and Puerto Rican brothers and sister Oscar, Bernie and Teresita González. A memorial service will be held at W.F. Gormley & Sons in Sacramento, CA on December 15th, 2017 at 6pm. In lieu of flowers the family would encourage donations to Puerto Rico’s hurricane Maria relief funds- unidosporpuertorico.com.
