O’Brien, Joan A.

Joan A. O’Brien passed away on January 28, 2018 at the age of 85 in Sacramento, CA.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Terrance O’Brien. Joan was born to Thomas and Jeannette Eschelman in Sacramento on November 8, 1932, and was raised in Folsom, CA. She married the love of her life, Terry, who grew up down the street from her.   They moved to Sacramento to raise their family.  Joan worked for many years as a Benefits Representative for UC Davis until her retirement. Joan and Terry enjoyed playing golf together, and were members of the Cordova Couples Golf Club.    They also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and were devoted parents and grandparents.   Joan is survived by her brother, Dr. Lawrence Eschelman (Marilyn), daughters, Margie Geremia (Robert) and Mariellen Burger; grandchildren, Jeff Geremia (Jessica), Brian Geremia (Megan), Allie Burger, and Zachary Burger; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Jack and Andrew Geremia.  She also leaves behind her dear sister-in-law, June Schreiber, and her loving caregiver, Millie Koroi, along with her nieces and nephews.   Joan’s funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 1040 - 39th St.; burial immediately following at East Lawn Cemetery.
