Vince Damore passed away on February 25th in Sacramento. He was 86 years old. He was born on August 25th, 1931, in Sacramento to Thomas and Mary Damore.
Vince lived all his life in Sacramento. He graduated from Sacramento State University in accounting. He became a CPA and had a long and successful career. He was well respected in his field for his integrity and expertise. He retired as Senior partner from Damore, Hamric, and Schneider.
Vince had a lifelong love of music. At age 14 he was already playing timpani for the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra. He played percussion at Sacramento High in the marching band. During college he played drums in a dance combo.
He also loved winter sports and belonged to a ski club that visited many of the western ski resorts. He spent his summers at the family cabin in Silver Lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
After retiring Vince traveled extensively, including trips to the Holy Land, Egypt, Mexico, and the Panama Canal.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served on the board at Stanford Home and was active in his church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Violet, and his two daughters Anne (Larry Smithey) and Monica (Sarah Perlman), and his grandsons, Andrew (Karen), Alex, and William (Nicholle). He is also survived by his sister Marie (Peter Rakela), and brother Milton (Mary).
He was pre-deceased by his beloved daughter Mary and his brother Peter Manitone.
Vince was very close to his extended family, and was very fond of his many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held in the Saint Joseph’s Chapel at Saint Mary’s Cemetery on Friday, March 2nd at 11 am. Burial will follow the funeral at Saint Mary’s.
