David Frederick Zimmerman, aka "Corky", died April 15, 2018 at age 68 from pancreatic cancer after a two-decade battle with liver disease. Born in Sacramento on September 9, 1949, Corky was a lifelong Sacramento resident and was educated in local public schools -Sutterville Elementary, Joaquin Miller, C.K. McClatchy, Sacramento City College, and Sacramento State University. Corky was predeceased by his parents Erwin and Bessie Zimmerman, his brother Don and Don's wife Bernice, and brother-in-law Mike Watts. He is survived by brother Paul (Geoff) Zimmerman, sister Marlene (William) Andrews, and sister Loye Watts (Oxford Ml), brother-in-law Steve Wittmann, along with many other beloved family members. Corky married his wife of more than 25 years, Gail Wittmann, on December 21, 1992 and became a loving Stepdad to Gail's children Kelly and Matthew Goss. Bonuses came in 2006 when Matt married Kimmi Wong, and in 2009 and 2012 when Corky welcomed David and Katelyn Goss into his life and became known as "Grandpa Corky". Corky beautifully restored vintage Chris-Craft boats, passionately raced go karts, rode motorcycles, and appreciated fast vehicles of all varieties. He loved the Sacramento River, the ocean, going to the movies, supporting the River Cats, and his yellow labs Miller and Kelsey. Most of all he loved his family who love and miss him immeasurably.
