FRANZOIA, FRANCES MARIE.
Frances Marie (Valerio) Franzoia, died at the age of 96 on June 7, 2018. She was born to Jerry and Milka Valerio on April 23, 1922 in Sacramento. She attended Jefferson Primary School (16th and N) and Sacramento High School and also Oregon State University. In 1944 she married Andrew Franzoia and celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2002. She is survived by her children; Maggi Slayton, David (Janis) Franzoia, Robert (Rebecca) Franzoia, five grandchildren; Ann Marie (Jeret) Arnaz, Susan Slayton, Jillian Franzoia (Anthony) Brown, Rachel and Anthony Franzoia and two great-grand girls, Ella and Claire Arnaz. Frances is also survived by sister-in-law, Denise Franzoia, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson Richard Franzoia, son-in-law Ron Slayton, sister Antoinette Valerio (Hiram) Walker and brother George (Rose) Valerio. Along with being a wonderful homemaker, Frances worked briefly at Bank of America and then for over 30 years at Weinstock’s/Macy’s. In her retirement she enjoyed being a grandmother, volunteering, gardening, and working her crossword puzzles. Frances was a dedicated volunteer at St. Robert Church for almost 60 years. She and Andrew also volunteered in the garden and kitchen at Casa de Los Ninos, at Loaves and Fishes and the Food Bank. She had an unwavering sense of fairness and was committed to treating everyone equally. She found a friend in everyone she met and had a profound impact in making those she knew feel special. She was an active member of the Ljubica Club for 76 years and was also a member in the American Slavic Social Club and the Slav Ladies' Club. The family wishes to thank long-term caregivers Kelly and Michelle for the loving and compassionate care they provided Frances in her home during the past four years. A memorial service will be held at St. Robert Church, 2243 Irvin Way, on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with reception following. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Frances requested memorials be made to the St. Robert Building Fund.
