Dolores "Blue" Espenshade

Dolores (Blue) Mae Espenshade . Passed away in Carmichael on July 6th, 2018 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late George W. Espenshade and mother of William Espenshade, Suzanne (Ken) Jones & Kathleen (Don) Jasielum. Daughter of the late George Cunningham & Eva R. Cunningham-Esola. Cherished grandmother of Mark (Lisa) & Matt (Rebecca) Espenshade, Shawn (Charity) Schwaller, and Nora (Casey) Tingley. Great grandmother of Connor, Lucas, & Max Espenshade, and Kai Vicente Schwaller. Sister of George Cunningham. Preceded in death by infant son George Milton, brother Robert Cunningham S.J., and sister Dorothy (Pink) Bittleston. Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews. Born in Livermore, CA, her family relocated to Sacramento when she was 10 years old. Attended Saint Joseph Academy and graduated in 1943. Shortly after, while working at Kress downtown she met the love of her life and married in 1944. Dolores was a stay at home mom and housewife for 30-years before becoming an attendance clerk at Burbank High School. She loved gardening, traveling, volunteering at Loaves & Fishes, and always looked forward to spending time with her family. A devout Catholic, Dolores touched many lives through her good work and always had a way to make people smile whether it was by telling a joke or giving a sincere complement. She will be sadly missed. Family and friends may call for visitation on Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 4-6 and attend recitation of The Rosary at 6pm at the Gormley Mortuary (2015 Capitol Ave.). The funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018, at 10:30am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church (10497 Coloma Rd., Rancho Cordova). Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sacramento.
