Vicki Margo Robbins

Vicki Margo Robbins passed peacefully on July 4th, 2018 surrounded by family after a seven-year battle with lymphoma and leukemia.  At the age of 66, Margo is survived by her three children, Brad (Bonnie), Zach (Esther) and Erica (Patrick) and her three grandchildren, Elijah, Noah and Bailey.  Margo is predeceased by her loving husband of 39 years, Michael, who passed in 2012 and her mother, Irene, in 2014.  Born on July 14th, 1951, in North Carolina, Margo moved to Toledo, Ohio where she spent the first half of her life. She graduated from the Owens Technical College of Nursing in 1973 and completed a post-graduate course in Montreal, becoming a certified neurological nurse specialist.  Margo became the first neurological nurse specialist at Toledo Hospital where she developed a curriculum to teach nursing staff about neurological care.  She married Michael in 1979 in Ohio and they moved to Sacramento in 1980, where she became head nurse at Sutter Hospital and created the Neurological Science Center.  Although she retired from nursing in 1986, she stayed active in the medical community where she served as chairman for the American Heart Association (1990-1991) and aided in the development of stroke care for patients. She served on the board for the Sacramento/Eldorado Medical Society from 1989-1995 and served one year as president from 1994-1995. Once retired from nursing, Margo devoted herself fully to her children’s passions- being the theatre mom to every kid in the show (not just her own), being the Board President of the Park Terrace Swim Team, leading academic competitions through Brookfield, and actively volunteering and fundraising through both Jesuit and St. Francis, to name a few.  Margo was additionally an avid bridge player and teacher, and even once played Bill Gates.  But above all, Margo was a vivacious and caring woman who loved her family more than anything.

A memorial service and a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 20th from 1 – 4 PM at Arden Hills Country Club in Sacramento, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her name.
