Charlie was born on October 3rd, 1929 in Vacaville, CA to Howard and Hilda Nulk. He died peacefully at home on Saturday, September 8th after a long illness.      Survived by his wife of 62 years Patricia, daughters Nancy Horowitz , Mary (Russell) Vavuris and Carol (Kevin) Philpott, son Tom and brother Robert A. (Carol Ann) Nulk and (7) grandchildren.   Preceded in death by son Timothy, son-in-law Burt Horowitz, sister Mary Ellen Haeuptle, brother Vince and foster brother Frank Anderson. He will be remembered as a loving husband, amazing father, proud grandfather and a great friend.

Charlie graduated from Vacaville High School and Santa Clara University (’51). Upon his graduation from SCU he was commissioned into the US ARMY and proudly served in the 2nd Infantry Division in the Korean War as a forward observer. After his return home he obtained his teaching credential from Sacramento State and his Masters of Business Education from Oregon State.  He taught 35 years in the Grant District, primarily at Foothill High School.  Long time active member of Knights of Columbus 953 and Bishop Manogue Assembly 4th Degree.   Fondly remembered for organizing the annual KofC German Night for many years.  Spent his retirement years enjoying his growing family, card games, traveling and good food.  Long time St. Mary’s parishioner.

A Rosary will be said at 7:00PM, on Monday, September 17th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (58th and M St.).  A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 18th, at 11:30AM, also at St. Mary’s.  

The family would like to thank the special care givers who helped him in his last few years, especially Darrell, Vyktoria and Sutter Care At Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
