Delores (Jacob) Skalisky

Delores (Jacob) Skalisky,  age 90, of Sacramento, CA died Friday, December 7, 2018 at 12 noon, with her loving children by her side.  
Delores was born on the farm March 6, 1928 to Edwin Leon Jacob & Daisy Leona (Day) Jacob in Sebeka, MN.  She was the oldest of nine children.  Delores married Lester Marvin Skalisky in June 1946.  Soon after they were married they began their trek across the states in a 1929 Model A to settle in Sacramento, CA, where they were blessed with 5 children.   She was a wonderful homemaker making delicious home cooked meals every day.  

Delores grew up on a farm and loved to tell stories of milking cows, pitching hay and taking care of her siblings.  She told stories of how they were the only farm to have a big electric yard light, as her Grandfather, Leon Jacob brought a generator from France in the 1930’s.  Delores and her husband used to make yearly trips back to MN to visit family.  She was a great cook, gave solid advice & always had a kiddish giggle.  Her hair was always beautifully coifed & she loved to carry her golden purse a.k.a. Golden Goose.  She had a rose garden with roses named after presidents.  She deeply loved her husband and was saddened when he passed.  She kept him alive in her heart by telling stories about him – you could feel the love she had for him.

Delores is survived by her children, Debbie Skalisky, Les Skalisky & DeVonne (Randy) Gillan, all of Sacramento, CA;  and son-in-law Joe Marty from Park City, Utah, her brothers Larry (Terry) Jacob, ND, Fred Jacob, Steven (Sheila) Jacob and sisters Conny (Don) Blair and Fran Granroth-Skalisky all from MN.  She is also survived by grandchildren Norm (Holly) Gillan, Amy and Tyler Gillan, Jason (Tara) Marty and Justin Marty;  and great grandchildren Lexy, Caleb, Eli, Norman IV, Simon, Roman and Hayden.  Delores will also be missed by many nieces & nephews both in Sacramento and back in Minnesota.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester Skalisky, son Gary Lee, daughter Diane Marty, and granddaughter Jennifer Marty.  Delores was a beautiful soul & will be missed dearly.

The family would like to thank the Kaiser North staff and doctors for their kind and loving care of our dear Mother. 

Services for Delores will be this Saturday, 12-15-2018 at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  2730 Hurley Way, Sacramento, CA. 95864.  Private burial to follow. If you are sending flowers, please deliver directly to the church, after 8:00 am, on Saturday
